📚 5 Wonder Wing Challenges to Try Anytime!
Reading isn't just about turning pages — it’s about turning everyday moments into something magical. Below are 5 fun, family-friendly challenges you can start right away.
You don’t need anything fancy. Just your books, your imagination, and a dash of Wonder Wing spirit! ✨
📦 1. The Book Basket Challenge
How many places can you read in one week?
Pop five books in a basket and take them on a reading adventure — the sofa, the garden, under a blanket, in a fort, or upside-down on your bed (if you're brave)!
🟡 Goal: 5 locations in 7 days
🏅 Let them decorate their own reading basket with stickers, ribbons, or drawings
💛 2. The Feel-Good Fiction Hunt
Find stories that make you smile, giggle, or feel brave.
Choose 3–5 books that spark big feelings — from belly laughs to proud moments. Then draw or write about your favourite one!
🟡 Goal: Choose stories with strong emotions or kindness themes
🏅 Plan a “kindness afternoon” – baking, drawing, or playing something gentle together
🧙♀️ 3. The Wonder Wingspan Quest
How far can your reading wings stretch?
Read 3 books set in different places — a fantasy world, a different country, outer space, or under the sea.
🟡 Goal: Complete your 3-book “Wingspan”
🏅 Reward: Add stamps or stickers to a DIY reading passport, or give a small homemade badge.
📚 4. The Double Dip Challenge
Read one fiction and one non-fiction book on the same topic.
Example: a dinosaur story + a dinosaur fact book. See how different types of books bring topics to life!
🟡 Goal: Try 2 themed pairs this month
🏅 Reward: Make a fun fact sheet or reward with a “Curious Mind” sticker.
🎭 5. The Read-Aloud Remix
Pick a book and perform it your way!
Act it out, use silly voices, make puppets, or rewrite the ending!
🟡 Goal: One creative retelling
🏅 Reward: 💬 Create a “Star Performer” moment — spotlight them at dinner or morning circle
🎁 Bonus Tip:
You could create a simple “Reward Jar” with folded slips inside — let your little ones pick one when they complete a challenge! (Some could even say things like “Choose the next book” or “Extra storytime.”)
💡 Parents & Teachers: These rewards are just suggestions. You can use a sticker, a favourite snack, a printable you make yourself, or even a snuggle and a “Well Done!” — whatever fits your family’s style.
We’ll add downloadable badges soon — but you can start the fun right away!
